Close up photography is proven to be difficult but don't let that deter you from giving it a go. Your challenge may be establishing a good depth of field to get a focused and sharp shot. That's why your choice of aperture is important. Go with f/16 or f/22 but remember that the higher the f number the slower the shutter speed will be so be sue to hold that camera steady.

The lens magnifies subjects far away, they have long focal length's and there a must have when you can't get close enough to the subject like at a sporting event, or if you don't want to get close to the subject like wildlife.

When doing landscape photography you may want to capture a broad view. A good way of going about ensuring that everything is in focus is by shutting the lens down to f/16 to increase your depth of field. You will need a wide angle lens for this because small apertures go hand in hand with landscape photography.

Finding shade in the sun is essential to good photography. Shade is the only way to escape sun rays and settings in high contrast. Taking shots in the shade while the sun is up will give you more control over the light. The shot will more than likely come out softer and cooler but that's better than that glare the harsh sun rays give off. In this portrait she is under a tree in the shade, but we still allowed for just enough sun light to peek through for a great shot.
